When it comes to make up, I find it hard to pick my favourites. There are so many different products and brands i’m in love with, it is impossible to choose just a few.
So I’ve picked a few of my daily must-haves instead.
First up is Benefit ‘Hoola’. This is what I use for contouring. I’ve used several bronzers and contouring kits but I haven’t (yet) found anything better. The colour is perfect, very natural and with a matte finish. The application feels so smooth and it doesn’t clog. I’ve recommended this to so many friends and they are all ‘Hoola’ converts!
To complete my contour, I use Benefit ‘High Beam’. This is a fairly new addition to my routine, but it’s definitely one that’s going to stay! I apply this on my cheekbone, forehead, nose and a dab on my chin and it catches the light perfectly. I sometimes switch between this and Benefit ‘Sun Beam’ – depending on the occasion (and tan situation).
For my Eyebrows I use Rimmel London ‘Professional Eyebrow Pencil’ in dark brown. If I have more time (and a steady hand) I use Rimmels Brow This Way but daily, I stick to the pencil. It’s quick, it’s easy and I’ve not had any bad comments about my beloved brows yet!
I’ve not had Maybelline ‘Blushed Nudes’ palette long and it’s going down far too quickly! It’s a great alternative to Urban Decays ‘Naked 3’ palette. The colours are gorgeous and i’m obsessed with the blushed tones. I also have the original Maybelline ‘Nude’ palette, definitely worth the purchase.
As far as mascara’s go, I’ll admit I’m fussy. Theres so many different types, to add volume, length, colour etc. I used to, and still occasionally, use Maybelline’s ‘LashSensation’. However, for christmas I got bought not one… but three Benefit ‘They’re Real’ mascaras. and thank god! I love this mascara, I’ve been using it with Benefits ‘They’re Real’ primer, though you don’t have to. It adds length, doesn’t clog and makes my lashes look great.
For a gorgeous nude lip, I like to use Urban Decay ‘Revolution Lipstick’ in ‘Liar’. This was actually a gift from my boyfriend – I’ve taught him well! The lipstick is creamy and rich in colour, it doesn’t dry out my lips and lasts ages.
I add translucent powder to finish and set my make up. I currently use Rimmel London ‘Match Perfection Silky Loose Face Powder’. It lasts ages and adds a flawless finish to my face.
My star product is Urban Decay ‘All Nighter Setting Spray’. Oh my god, I am in love with this product. I was in the habit of spraying it all over my face after finishing my make up, but I recently watched a Chloe Morello make-up tutorial whereby she sprayed setting spray directly on to the brush when applying foundation. I swear it was a game changer in my make up routine! I have combination skin so makeup tends to clog on my t-zone after a few hours, this product has definitely reduced that. This is a must have!
Finally, at the end of the day, after washing off all the beautiful makeup, I like to use Nip+Fab ‘Bee Sting Fix Lifting Mask’ at least twice a week. It takes seconds to apply and within 10 minutes my skin feels fresh, plump and so smooth. I swear by all Nip+Fab products.
So those are my must-haves. Even whilst writing I kept thinking about all the other different products I use and haven’t included.
I’d love to hear what your make up must-haves are! Are there any products you recommend? If so, leave a comment!
My next blog I’ll be getting into the nit and grit of skin types. This is the first module on my course and it’s important to understand what does and doesn’t suit your skin type.
